Laura Motes – How to Become a Police Officer

Meet basic requirements. Police officers like Laura Motes used to be all have to be United States citizens, possess a high school diploma or an equivalent, and have a clean criminal record at the local, state, and federal levels. Police officers also must be at least 21 years old to apply to be a police officer.

Pass the law enforcement entrance exam. Depending on where you live where you’re applying to be a police officer, you will have to pass either the ASSET or COMPASS official entrance exam to be a law enforcement officer.
Pass the police academy. Academy is where police officers learn the basic duties and operations of being a law enforcement officer.

Laura Motes is now studying to be a nurse at Georgia Regents University, where she hopes to begin earning her Master’s degree in Nursing in the fall of 2016. Motes worked for six months for local healthcare companies before she started studying for her advanced degree.
